Saving your favourite Youtube videos at your PC
April 22nd, 2007 by KostakissA couple of months ago, Alexandros kept asking me about how he could save a youtube video at a local hard drive. My answer was just “I don’t know”, although I found this question rather interesting.
I recently remembered this question and after a short research I noticed that this is rather simple and you can do that with more than one way.
We present here three different ways for downloading videos from your favourite video sharing site and you can choose and go on with the one which is more convenient to you.
In any case, you need to download the FLV Player for playing back the .flv files.
Method One – Firefox Add On
If you have not installed Firefox yet, it is time to do that right now and benefit of all its unique features. You can download it directly from FreeDome by clicking the “Get Firefox with Google Bar” button on the left side of the site.
For those who have already installed Firefox, they can just visit the adds-on link and download the VideoDownloader.
Just click on “Install Now” button and after the installation process, you need to restart the Firefox browser.
After finishing the preliminary work, just visit your favourite video sharing site and watch your favourite video (or you may pause it). On the bottom of the right hand side of the Firefox browser you can see the VideoDownloader icon ( if you leave your cursor on it, the label VideoDownloader will appear). For further details see the screenshot provided by the VideoDownloader page.
Click on this icon and a pop up window will appear with the appropriate options, which looks like the screenshot below (You may click to enlarge).
Click on Download Link and your favourite video will be soon in your Hard Disk Drive and as the warning says, you must change the file extension to .flv.
After the file is on your HDD you launch the FLV PLayer, you load the file and enjoy the video.
Method Two – Youtube Grabber
Youtube Grabber is a free tool that downloads FLV files from video sharing sites, such as Youtube.
Simply copy and paste the URL of a video from youtube into the program, press grab OR enter, and the file will be downloaded into the same directory as the program.

Method Three - SaveYoutube
A third and very convenient way is just to visit the SaveYoutube and follow the easy steps described in this one page site.
Step 1: Copy Youtube Video URL
Step 2: Paste Below & Hit “Download”
Step 3: Rename Video with .FLV Extension
After accomplishing those simple steps you can watch the video (.flv file) with the FLV Player.

The next best thing after water!!!!!!

Sorry Alexandros, I strongly disagree with you. I think that this topic is coming third after the first great thing which is water and the second one which is Captain Filippos’s fishing boat.

It’s really helpful! Always, I had this problem everytime I wanted to watch videos from you tube and save them to my local drive. Seriously now, the instructions are good, clear and finally you can have these videos!!!
Nice job guys!
