Space shuttle Discovery has landed safely in Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It is definitely an adventurous journey from the very first second that the thrusters ignite. An article about how Discovery lands is presented in BBC. The procedure seems pretty much easy and controllable, but consider the speeds of around Mach 30 and that a small deviation from the main plan may be disastrous.
